All about Doug

For those who do not know, my name is Doug Frost and I currently reside in Elizabeth, NJ. I am happily married for over four years and we have a one-year old son Mitchell. He is our pride and joy. In addition, it amazes us still to this day how great of a baby he is. I received my bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Mathematics minor in 2000 from Wagner College. In 2002, I decided to go back to school and in 2004 I received my master's degree in Computer Science. I am now in pursuit for my second master's degree. This time in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Instrcution, and Assessment at Walden University.

Professionally, I started my teaching experience as an Adjunct Instructor for the Mathematics and Computer Scinece Department at my alma mata Wagner College. My faculty advisor, who was the department chair at the time, hired me to teach a few classes when I was struggling to find a job after I graduated. In need for a little more income, I decided to apply for an online teaching position. I was hired at Westwood College Online (main campus is in Denver, CO) to teach online Mathematics and Computer Science courses. In need of a full-time position, since I decided I was going to propose to my wife for one thing, I got my first full-time teaching position in Elizabeth High School in September 2005. I didn't like the fact I had to leave Wagner College. It was a choice I had to make. I made a difficult decision during my teaching in Elizabeth. In February 2008, five months before achieving tenure, I left Elizabeth High School for an offer I could not refuse at Hasbrouck Heights Middle/High School. I was able to do more than I could in Elizabeth and had a great time. In additon, because of this capability, I decided to leave Westwood College Online. Moreover, I was not getting a good courseload from them. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, I lost my job at Hasbrouck Heights in June 2009 and have been unemployed since. To keep up with teaching, I am a part-time instructor at Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey. It is a better experience than I thought and enjoying it every day. In the meantime, I am a stay-at-home dad to my son.

As for what I like to do, I am a big video game addict. I play as much as I can on either the computer (Pogo), Wii (Bowling), or XBOX 360 (Either Tiger Woods 2011 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Online). I've been playing since my father got me the original Atari 2600 in 1983. To be honest, these kids do not know how good they have it these days. In addition, I like to watch and play poker. I'm not great at it, but I enjoy it, especially for the logical aspect of it. The two things I have not done in a while but still enjoy doing is bowling and billiards. I was a good bowler. I have three sanctioned 300 games in league competition, three-game high series of 783, and averaged over 200 the last six years I bowled. My wife got me into billiards and there were times I have beaten her. Unfortunately, I have been focusing more on my career so I put those on the hold for a while. I hope to get back to them soon. Finally, which has been a surprise to me, I enjoy reading. I was never a reader. In addition, I was not a good student in Language Arts until I got older. I try to read as much as I can when I do not have to worry about school, work, and my son. I am currently reading the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is the entire collection of five books and one short story written by Douglas Adams. I finished the first two books and in the middle of the third. If you liked the movie, you will like the collection.
